Speaking during a visit to the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in Italy, Vice President Mohadi said Zimbabwe’s artistic talent should be showcased on the world’s biggest cultural platforms as part of efforts to project the country’s rich heritage and creative excellence.

While touring exhibitions featuring contemporary African artists, the Vice President interacted with exhibitors and viewed works highlighting the diversity and innovation of African art.

At the Giardini, the historic venue that hosts national pavilions at the Venice Biennale, Vice President Mohadi visited the exhibition of Zimbabwean artist Gina Maxin, whose work is representing the country at one of the world’s most prestigious art exhibitions.

Commending the artist’s achievement, the Vice President said her participation reflects Zimbabwe’s growing presence on the global cultural stage.

“She is raising our flag. This is what we mean by Brand Zimbabwe,” he said.

Vice President Mohadi encouraged Zimbabwean artists to embrace international platforms that allow them to exchange ideas, refine their skills and access new markets.

He said artists should actively participate in global exhibitions and cultural exchanges to promote Zimbabwe’s creative industries while strengthening the country’s international profile.

“Our music, our paintings and our sculpture are not just art. They are diplomacy, identity, jobs and the creative economy,” he said.

The Vice President reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting the growth of the creative and cultural industries, noting that the arts play a critical role in preserving Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage, strengthening cultural diplomacy and contributing to national economic development.

He said increased international exposure for Zimbabwean artists would not only raise the country’s profile but also create opportunities for investment, tourism and export growth within the creative economy.

“As more Zimbabwean artists showcase their work on global platforms, the world will increasingly recognise Zimbabwe’s creativity, innovation and cultural richness,” he said.

Concluding his visit, Vice President Mohadi urged Zimbabwean creatives to confidently tell the nation’s story through their work and embrace opportunities beyond the country’s borders.

“Let the world see us. Let the world feel us. Let the world buy from us,” he said.

His visit to the Venice Biennale underscores Zimbabwe’s growing recognition of the creative economy as an important pillar of cultural diplomacy and sustainable economic development under Vision 2030.
