Government and Private Sector Forge Stronger Ties to Drive Zimbabwe’s Economic Recovery

Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu, Minister of Industry and Commerce, has underscored the critical role of the private sector in advancing Zimbabwe’s economic recovery, applauding businesses for responding positively to government calls for increased production. Speaking during a high-level engagement with industry stakeholders, the Minister highlighted that while manufacturing growth is evident, challenges persist within the informal sector, a segment that remains vital for employment and local economic activity. He emphasized that these challenges must be addressed strategically to ensure the economy can move forward on a sustainable path.

The Minister’s remarks came alongside assurances that government is committed to creating a conducive business environment. In the construction industry, he noted the importance of duty-free structures for equipment and signaled that relevant ministries are actively working to resolve operational bottlenecks. Similarly, progress has been made in key reserve sectors, with statutory instruments expected to provide clarity and regulatory certainty, ensuring that businesses can operate with predictability and confidence.

Both government and private sector representatives agreed to deepen their engagement, recognizing that collaboration is essential for sustaining economic momentum. By scaling up partnerships and aligning public policy with business needs, Zimbabwe aims to foster a more robust, resilient, and diversified economy. Minister Ndlovu stressed that business sustainability is a priority and acknowledged the valuable input from private sector actors in shaping strategies that will drive growth, enhance competitiveness, and build long-term economic stability.
