ZANU PF: A Party of Deeds, Not Words

H.E President Mnangagwa

ZANU PF’s ability to attract over 200 opposition members in Chiredzi underscores its growing influence and effective grassroots mobilization strategy ahead of the next general elections.

The defectors, previously aligned with the opposition, acknowledged that they had been misled by opposition leaders and now recognize the tangible development initiatives spearheaded by the Second Republic as a compelling reason to switch allegiance to the ruling party.

Unlike opposition parties that rely heavily on manifestos and rhetoric, ZANU PF has adopted an action-driven approach, ensuring that development projects and economic transformation efforts speak louder than words. In 2023, the ruling party prioritized results over promises, a strategy that has proven effective in consolidating its support base across the country.

A key component of this strategy is the Returnees Department, led by Blessing Chebundo, which actively welcomes and integrates former opposition members into the party’s structures. This initiative not only strengthens ZANU PF’s political dominance but also fosters national unity by bridging past political divides. The department has played a crucial role in attracting high-profile opposition figures such as Chebundo himself, Obert Gutu, Gabriel Chaibva, and the late Lilian Timveous, among others.

Despite attempts by opposition elements to push narratives of splits and factionalism within ZANU PF, the party remains unshaken and continues to grow stronger. The opposition’s expectations that allegations by discredited war veteran and ZANU PF Central Committee member, Blessed Geza, would destabilize the party have proven futile. Instead, ZANU PF’s influence in the political arena continues to expand, demonstrating its resilience and ability to maintain political stability while delivering on its commitments to the nation.

As the party marches toward the upcoming elections, its focus remains on delivering progress, fostering national development, and ensuring economic transformation—a clear testament to why ZANU PF is a party of deeds, not words.
