President Mnangagwa’s Powerful Address: Reclaiming Africa’s History and Heritage

At the groundbreaking ceremony of the SADC Liberation Monument Square, President Emmerson Mnangagwa delivered a stirring address that reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s unwavering commitment to Pan Africanism. He boldly addressed the historical distortions that have served colonial interests, obscuring the continent’s rich and diverse heritage. President Mnangagwa emphasized that Zimbabwe remains inspired by its collective history and the enduring spirit of Pan Africanism, expressing pride in hosting a significant part of Africa’s historical repository to preserve the continent’s heritage for both present and future generations.

The event was graced by prominent African leaders, including His Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini, Angolan President João Lourenço, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, and Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina, further underscoring the importance of the occasion.

In his address, President Mnangagwa passionately called on Africans to reclaim their history, restore their dignity, and celebrate their victories against the forces of colonialism and neo-colonialism. He highlighted the critical role of museums as custodians of African history, safeguarding the stories of the continent, including the valiant struggle for liberation.
