Zimbabweans intending to drive light motor vehicles in the United Kingdom are required to hold class 4 driver’s licences.
The policy position was pronounced by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development in conjunction with Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) of the United Kingdom who issued a joint statement to that effect.
“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development through the Central Vehicle Registry (CVR) in conjunction with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) of the United Kingdom is advising the public of the new policy position about exchange of the Zimbabwe driver’s licence in the United Kingdom whereby DVLA will only entertain the exchange of class 4 driver’s licence for those competently tested for driving the light motor vehicles and class 2 for those driving trucks”, read the statement.
Holders of class 2 driver’s licence intending to drive light motor vehicles are required to downgrade to class 4.
This can be done in Zimbabwe through the CVR and Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) or one can obtain the class 4 driver’s licence in the United Kingdom.
The policy position does not affect holders of both the class 2 and class 4 driver’s licences obtained on different test dates.
