In Muzarabani Rural District Council, the devolution program came about as a rescue to the community.

Development that has been stagnant for some time in the first republic has started taking shape following the ascendancy to power of President Mnangagwa and the second republic.

It has given people the hope of glory in the standard of living as the devolution program came about in rural economy development.

Speaking to Muzarabani RDC councilor and the council chairperson Mr Alderman Ashton Chiweshe who is both the current councilor and the elected winner of the primary elections held in March said there is a lot more development coming in the district.

He thanked the government for such a program for it has brought relief in the health sector for there is an ongoing development on Nyamaridza and Kapembere Clinic and are 95% complete.

Being geared up in achieving vision 2030 they have drilled 16 boreholes to date through devolution and are aiming to reach 29 by the end of the year. There is also a lot going in restoring food security, they have been enhancing programs promoting agriculture.

Through devolution they have managed to purchase road equipment. They have also worked in schools such as Batanai and Gombachuma.

Mr Chiweshe speaking to our reporter said he felt motivated when he was elected again in being a candidate for the August 2023 harmonized election and is calling all Zimbabwe citizens to maintain peace as we approach the elections.

The people in the district have been testifying a change brought forth in the district. There have been notable improvements in essential services and are looking forward to seeing more.
