ZEC dismiss fake recall of polling agents reports

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has dismissed reports to the effect that polling agents and observers are being recalled to sign new V11 forms.

The commission issued a statement to that effect today.

“The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) notes with concern reports circulating on social media to the effect that election agents and observers are being re-called to sign new V.11 result forms.

The commission would like to inform the public that the said reports are false”, read the statement from ZEC Chief Elections Officer, Utoile Silaigwana.

ZEC informed the nation that soon after counting of votes the forms are sealed in ballot boxes.

The ballot boxes are not opened by any other person until after a period specified by the law at which time they are opened, and contents disposed.

Opening before the expiry of that period can only be done through an order of the Electoral Court.

We urge the populace to shun this act which is meant to cause alarm and despondency.
