Job Sikhala and Associate Remanded in Custody Over Explosives Charges in South Africa

National Democratic Working Group leader Job Sikhala and his associate, Alexander Thema, have been remanded in custody by a South African court following their arrest on charges of illegal possession of explosives. The two will remain behind bars until their bail hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

During Monday’s court proceedings, the State requested additional time to conduct further investigations into the matter. Sikhala, aged 53, and Thema, 78, were arrested last Friday while travelling in a Ford Fiesta vehicle along the N14 highway towards Johannesburg, shortly after exiting the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre.
