Chatunga Mugabe, Four Others Arrested Over Assault In Harare

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe and four other men in connection with an assault case in Harare.

In a press statement issued on 4 November 2026, police said Mugabe (29), Munashe Mubawu (43), Terrence Johannes Chinyemba (42), Fredson Peter (33) and Solomon Pamire (34) were arrested following an incident that allegedly occurred at The Brompton Guest Lodge in Highlands, Harare, on 3 November 2026 at around 18:30 hours.

Police said the five are facing assault charges, although the statement did not provide further details on the circumstances of the alleged assault or the identity of the complainant. Reports indicate the arrest followed an operation linked to an alleged assault on a Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) investigator during an operation to confiscate two vehicles said to have been smuggled from South Africa. The ZRP has not confirmed those details in its statement.

The suspects are expected to appear in court on 5 November 2026.

Police spokesperson, Commissioner P. Nyathi, Chief Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations) to the Commissioner-General of Police, said more details would be released in due course.
