Zimplow Holdings Swings To US$891k Profit On Strong Q3 Performance

Zimplow Holdings Limited has reported a strong recovery for the nine months to 30 September 2026, swinging to a profit before tax of US$891,063 from a loss of US$650,998 in the same period last year.

The turnaround of over US$1.54 million was driven by a 10.6% rise in Group revenue to US$24.88 million and an improvement in gross margin to 28.2% from 26.3%. The third quarter was the key driver, delivering US$634,775 in profit before tax – more than double what was earned in the first half.

The company said cost-base changes and business model adjustments introduced since 2025 are now beginning to create value, supported by improved stock availability and increased economic activity.

Farmec remained the largest profit contributor. Revenue rose 25.7% to US$10.11 million while profit before tax jumped 151.9% to US$565,297. Tractor sales grew 14% to 122 units and implement sales 23.8% to 369 units, with parts revenue up 24.6% to US$1.73 million.

Scanlink saw revenue marginally lower at US$5.31 million, down 1.1%, but profit before tax surged 212% to US$402,218 on the back of customer direct sales and strong after-sales. Truck sales more than tripled to 34 units, while bus sales fell to 16 units. Parts revenue grew 30.7% to US$2.47 million and service revenue rose 15.3% to US$1.04 million, lifting gross margin to 27.9%.

Trentyre grew revenue 29.8% to US$2.18 million and cut its loss to just US$12,027, a 95.7% reduction. New tyre sales revenue rose 66.7% to US$1.43 million on mining sector demand, with off-the-road and farm tyre volumes up 66.8% to 522 units, while retread revenue fell 13.6%.

Mealie Brand moved from a loss of US$43,347 to a profit of US$96,321 on revenue of US$3.43 million, up 16.1%. The strategy to reduce dependence on local agriculture paid off, with export revenue up 42.8% to US$1.15 million and export implement volumes up 46.4% to 9,461 units. New revenue from mining reached US$459,843, now 13.4% of its sales, while local revenue declined 15.4%.

Powermec returned to profitability with a US$30,362 profit versus a US$65,334 loss last year, on revenue 10% higher at US$2.75 million. Solar and accessories more than doubled to US$604,852, now 22% of sales, while generator sales and hire softened on stable grid supply.

C.T. Bolts also returned to profit, posting US$63,798 against a prior loss of US$761, on revenue of US$964,333, up 5.3%, with tonnage up 5.9% to 253 tonnes. Lower operating expenses, down 16.8%, drove the improvement.

The company noted relatively stable macro conditions, with GDP growth projected at 5% for 2026, inflation in single digits, and the ZiG trading between 25 and 27 to the US dollar. However, it flagged risks from a strong El Niño forecast for the 2026/27 season, softer tobacco prices and low Kariba storage near 24%.

The company said it is pursuing a drought-proofing and diversification strategy focused on mining, export markets and cost containment, while preserving cash. It is also in final stage negotiations for an acquisition in a related industry, for which a cautionary remains in place.
