HARARE – President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa this morning hosted His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini of the AmaZulu Nation, together with a royal delegation and traditional leaders from South Africa, at State House in Harare, reaffirming the enduring historical and cultural ties between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The courtesy call highlighted the longstanding relationship between the two neighbouring countries and the important role of traditional leadership in promoting unity, peace and cultural preservation.
“It was an honour and a privilege to welcome His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini of the AmaZulu Nation, together with his esteemed royal delegation and traditional leaders from South Africa, to State House in Harare,” said President Mnangagwa.
The President said the engagement reaffirmed the deep historical and cultural bonds that continue to unite the people of Zimbabwe and South Africa.
He noted that traditional leadership remains a cornerstone of Africa’s identity, playing a vital role in preserving the continent’s rich heritage while guiding communities towards peace, unity and sustainable development.
King Misuzulu’s visit comes at a time when Zimbabwe and South Africa continue to strengthen regional integration, social cohesion and the preservation of African customs and values.
President Mnangagwa reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to strengthening relations with South Africa and promoting closer cooperation across the region.
“Zimbabwe continues to open its doors to our regional brothers and sisters as we strengthen these foundational ties. We look forward to continued collaboration, mutual respect and shared prosperity between our nations,” he said.
The engagement is expected to further strengthen people-to-people relations between Zimbabwe and South Africa through traditional institutions, which continue to play a significant role in community development, conflict resolution and the preservation of cultural heritage.
The visit by the AmaZulu royal delegation forms part of broader efforts to deepen cooperation between the two countries beyond government relations and trade, extending collaboration to culture, heritage and traditional governance.
