ZIFA appoints Commission Of Inquiry Into Sheasham FC Case

The football mother body, The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed a Commission of Inquiry to investigate the withdrawal of Sheasham FC from the Central Region Division One League amid concerns of officiating and administrative irregularities.

ZIFA, concerned by the sudden withdrawal and allegations raised by Sheasham resolved to institute a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Sheasham early this month announced that they were withdrawing from the Central Region Division One League before the campaign’s conclusion. They cited incidents that don’t promote fair play and administrative irregularities specifically poor officiating and biased treatment.

The ZIFA Executive Committee met on 9 October and resolved in terms of Article 55 of the ZIFA Statutes to set up a commission of enquiry to establish facts, assess procedural compliance, and recommend measures to strengthen fairness, integrity, and transparency within league management.

The mother body in a bid to address Sheasham’s concerns has constituted the commission of inquiry comprising of:

• Mr. Ringisai Kudzanai Hillario Mapondera – Chairperson, Legal and Governance Expert

• Mr. Jabulani Mpofu – Athletic Director, Lupane State University

• Ms. Morelet S. Mathema – Vice President (Technical & Development), Zimbabwe Volleyball

Association

• Mr. Andrew Pamire – Former Referee

The mandate of the commission has been spelt out The commission is tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding Sheasham FC’s withdrawal from the ZCRSL, including any related complaints.

The commission will also determine whether Sheasham FC exhausted all internal remedies available under the ZIFA Statutes and ZCRSL regulations prior to withdrawal and assess the response of the ZCRSL to any complaints lodged by Sheasham FC.

The commission is expected to submit a written report of findings and recommendations to the ZIFA Executive Committee within seven (7) working days from the date of appointment.

ZIFA reiterated that the appointment of the commission is a corrective and reformative measure, aimed at restoring trust, integrity, and accountability in football administration. All stakeholders were urged to cooperate fully with the inquiry to ensure a transparent and constructive outcome.

The nation awaits the outcome of the investigation.
