The Meteorological Services Department has warned of heavy rainfall today across areas along the main watershed, including Matabeleland North, the Midlands, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland East, and Manicaland.
These regions will experience partly cloudy and mild conditions in the morning before transitioning to mostly cloudy and warm weather with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, other provinces will start the day with partly cloudy and mild conditions, warming up in the afternoon with chances of isolated thundershowers.
Yesterday, Mashonaland provinces, Harare Metropolitan, Midlands, and northern Manicaland saw partly cloudy skies in the morning with isolated light rain. By the afternoon, these areas became mostly cloudy and warm, with scattered thunderstorms and some heavy rainfall.
Other parts of the country experienced mild mornings that later turned warm with isolated thundery showers. An abundance of atmospheric moisture also led to widespread thunderstorms the previous day.
Significant rainfall amounts were recorded in several locations, including 70mm at Agritex Nyamweda, 55mm at Lusulu Tsetse Control, and 47mm in Gwanda. The southern regions, including Masvingo and southern Manicaland, experienced light showers due to a cool, moist airflow.
Yesterday morning, the western half of the country had cloudy and mild conditions, with isolated light rain caused by moisture entering from Botswana. By the afternoon, the weather turned partly cloudy and warm, with scattered thundershowers in various areas.
The Meteorological Services Department has urged residents to stay alert for possible heavy rain and thunderstorms, emphasizing the need for caution during this period of unstable weather.
