
Maputo, Mozambique – Daniel Chapo was officially sworn in as the 5th President of Mozambique during a high-profile ceremony held in Maputo this Wednesday. The event saw the presence of several international dignitaries, including Heads of State, former presidents of Mozambique, and a large crowd of Mozambican citizens.
Representing Zimbabwe at the ceremony was Defence Minister Honourable Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, who attended on behalf of the SADC chairperson, President Emmerson Mnangagwa. She was accompanied by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique, Ambassador Victor Matemadanda.

He highlighted the country’s immense natural resources, including natural gas, oil, and minerals, which he plans to harness to propel Mozambique to new heights of economic prosperity.
President Chapo also committed to addressing the pressing challenges of climate change, specifically the recurring issues of droughts and floods that have affected Mozambique.
His administration, he emphasized, would focus on sustainable solutions to mitigate the impact of these climate-related challenges, ensuring a more resilient future for the country.
