Prophet Walter Magaya

Presidential aspirants include Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) founder and leader Prophet Walter Magaya, former footballer Peter Ndlovu, ZIFA Northern Region chairman Martin Kweza, FIFA Football agents Ellen Chiwenga and Marshall Gore.

Warriors Legend Peter Ndlovu

The other reported aspiring candidates are former Warriors and CAPS United winger Alois Bunjira, FC Wangu Mazodze owner Richard Mazodze, veteran broadcaster Charles Mabika and former CAPS United president Twine Phiri. There are also reports that Caps United owner Farai Jere may also vie for the post.

The opening of the nominations sets the stage for an interesting contest.

However, the decision by the ZIFA Annual General Meeting (AGM) to amend it’s statutes and make it mandatory for Presidential aspirants to have at least five Ordinary Level (O-Level) passes will disqualify some of the hopefuls.

The election brings to an end the life of Normalisation Committee.

The Normalisation Committee has presided over the qualification of the National Senior Men’s team the Warriors for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be staged in Morocco.
