Zimbabwe Takes Steps to Improve Emergency Communication

Dr. G. K. Machengete, the Director General of Zimbabwe’s Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ), spoke at a workshop about emergency communication. He talked about how important it is to have good communication during disasters like floods or droughts.

Zimbabwe is getting help from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to make a plan for emergency communication. Dr. Machengete is happy about this and says it’s a big step forward.

He thanked the Ministry of ICT and the regulators for their work in making sure Zimbabwe’s communication systems are good. They make rules and check that everyone follows them to keep communication working well, especially during emergencies.

Dr. Machengete also thanked the ITU for their help. He said this partnership will make Zimbabwe’s communication stronger, especially during emergencies.

He believes that good communication during emergencies can save lives and help the country recover faster. He wants everyone to work together to make Zimbabwe safer and better prepared for disasters.
