Triangle hold Dynamos

Slowly but surely Dynamos Football Club (Dembare) are drifting away from the championship race if their results do not shore up urgently.

The team suffered a setback at the hands of Triangle United Football Club (Sugar Boys) yesterday at Gibbo stadium in Chiredzi. Triangle held the fort, walking away with a crucial point at the expense of the Harare giants.

Dynamos’ chances of winning the 2023 Castle Lager Premier League (Psl)l converted crown are fading by the day.

Dembare failed to break the Triangle defence the whole afternoon despite dominating play in the match.

They did everything that is expected in football but failed to score resulting in them settling for a goaless draw.

Yesterday’s draw did very little for them to close the gap between them and the log leaders Ngezi platinum Stars who are enjoying a fine run of form this season.

Ngezi are sitting at the summit of the log with 51 points after beating the army side (Black Rhinos) by a goal to nil on Wednesday.

Dembare is now sitting in fifth position on the log standings with 40 points.

They are trailing Ngezi by 11 points with only nine games left.

After the break Dembare made some changes and they created a lot of chances but the football gods were not on their side.

They could have scored more than two goals but everything was in vain.

Triangle’s Mensah had a good chance to kill the game only for Dembare goalkeeper Tafiremutsa Prince to deny them.

Tilbert Shumba, the Triangle goalkeeper had a good day in office as he denied most of Dembare’s raids.

Keith Madera’s shot was saved.

Dembare were coming with Shandirwa and Issa Sadiki playing as if their lives depended on that game but the expertise of Shumba denied them.

Kelvin Moyo’close range was well dealt with by Shumba who stretched to make a save.

Triangle’s second half substitute Svinurai decided to go for a kill instead of just passing the ball to his team mate.

His effort was easly dealt with by Dembare goalkeeper.

Young Elton Chikona was introduced late in the second half expecting some miracle but it was all in vain.

The hosts defence was water tight.

He also had his chance after managing to create some space in the 18 yard area but he did the unexpected.

Triangle coach Nyikadzino said he was not expecting this. He said we lost two precious points and we are sitting dangerously on the log.

The was desperate to collect maximum points but it was not to be.

Triangle wasted a lot of chances in the first half which could have unsettled the visitors.

His opposite number Mangombe was happy with the way his boys applied themselves although they failed to pocket maximum points.
