Caps United thought they had done everything that was expected of them to at least come out with a point away from home after holding on to a goalless draw for 80 miniutes.

Ralph Kawondera denied them in the dying minutes when he scored a brace after coming in for the last 10 minutes of play.

The game had started with all the ingredients that the supporters expect when they pay their monies to watch a football match. It was a balanced affair as both teams were playing some good passing game.

Micheal Tapera had his powerful shot blocked by Hasting Chapusha after he had pulled a trigger.

Before the dust had settled down Clive Rupiya failed to beat Manica goalkeeper Tadius Baye in a one on one situation.

Manica’s Tawanda Macheke who was introduced as a second half substitute decided to go for the kill and blasted his effort over bar in the 48th minute. Both team had their chances but were not utilising them.

Ageless, Rodwell Chinyengetere thought he had scored for the visitors when he chipped the ball over Manica goalkeeper only to see the ball perched on the roof of the net in the 77th minute.

Ralph Kawondera was the hero of the day. He was brought in replacing Bret Amidu with only 10 minutes to go to full time.

He scored his first goal of the day after Talent Chamboko had provided an assist and Ralph made a volley that gave Caps goalkeeper Ashly no chance.

Jairos Tapera the Manica coach was left a relieved man. He was full of praise for his decision to bring Kawondera in the dying minutes of the game.

His opposite number Lloyd Chitembwe said if Clive Rupiya had scored that chance otherwise the result would have been different.

“We had done everything to win that match but disappointed Rupiya could had killed that goal.

You know in football if you do not use the chances that you got you are bound to be punished. We were caught on counter attacks”, said Chitembwe.
