President Emmerson Mnangagwa shared the news via his X account, revealing that Starlink will collaborate with IMC Communications (Pvt) Ltd, a local service provider, to bring advanced internet services to Zimbabwe. “I am pleased to announce that Starlink, through its exclusive partner IMC Communications, has been licensed by POTRAZ to provide advanced internet and digital processing services in Zimbabwe,” stated President Mnangagwa.

Starlink, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite operator under Musk’s SpaceX, aims to deliver high-speed, low-cost internet access across Zimbabwe, with a particular focus on rural areas. This move aligns with the administration’s commitment to inclusive digital development. “This initiative supports our goal of leaving no one and no place behind,” Mnangagwa emphasized.

He further highlighted the positive implications for Zimbabwe’s investment climate, noting that such international partnerships reinforce the country’s position as an attractive destination for global business.The collaboration between IMC Communications and Starlink is anticipated to revolutionize Zimbabwe’s digital and communications sectors. Mnangagwa underscored the strategic importance of such investments in achieving the nation’s Vision 2030, which aspires to transform Zimbabwe into a fully digitalized, upper-middle-income economy within the next decade.
