“DYNAMOS CLAIM UHURU CUP GLORY IN THRILLING VICTORY”

Dynamo (Dembare) clinched the Independence Cup yesterday with a 1-0 victory over perennial rivals Highlanders (Bosso) in a fiercely contested match.

The club secured their first trophy of the season thanks to a decisive strike from Donald Mudadi just two minutes into the game, played at Murambinda B High School ground in Murambinda, Buhera, Manicaland province, as part of this year’s independence celebrations.

This triumph follows a period of discontent among the club’s supporters due to recent poor performances. Dembare has shown lethargy on the field, prompting fans to call for the removal of Head Coach Genesis Mangombe.

Their recent form has been particularly disappointing, suffering a 0-1 defeat to Simba Bhora in the Castle Lager Premier League (PSL) last weekend.

Speaking to the media post-match, Mangombe emphasized the significance of winning this cup. “I am delighted because we were eager to secure this cup. We fell short last season, so we made it clear to the boys that victory was imperative, especially since the match was held in Murambinda.”

Highlanders’ coach, Kelvin Kaindu, attributed the loss to early lapses in concentration and goal conceding. “We conceded early, which is concerning for the technical team. We need to address this.”

With the cup secured, attention now turns to the forthcoming PSL fixtures. Dynamos will host Telone at Rufaro Stadium, while Highlanders will face Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.
