16 cholera deaths recorded

The nation has registered 16 confirmed deaths from cholera.

The Acting Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Service Minister Jenfan Muswere advised the nation in a post cabinet brief yesterday.

“The nation is informed that as of 13 June 2023, Zimbabwe’s cumulative suspected cases had reached

2 460, with 2 243 recoveries, 16 confirmed deaths, and 47 suspected deaths. The case fatality rate (CFR) for all deaths, confirmed and suspected, was 2.4%”, Minister Muswere said.

Overall, 154 317 suspected cholera cases were reported in Africa with a cumulative total of 2 747 deaths having been recorded.

The nation was assured that government has instituted a multi-sectoral approach with a view to combating the outbreak.

The populace have been urged to take measures aimed at mitigating the effects of the outbreak.
