ZANU PF’s Scott Sakupwanya bags Mabvuku-Tafara constituency uncontested

Scott Sakupwanya

Zanu PF has added Mabvuku-Tafara constituency to its list of National Assembly seats following Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya’s win uncontested after the High Court barred former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate Febion Munyaradzi Kufahakutizwi from contesting under the CCC banner.

Sakupwanya is now the duly elected member of the national assembly. The electoral body, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has confirmed in a statement.

There was confusion as to whether CCC’s Hakutizwi was affected by the High Court order in the matter HCH7543/23 barring recalled former CCC members of the national assembly from contesting under the CCC banner.

“Since there were only two candidates nominated for the Mabvuku-Tafara National Assembly constituency by-election, Sakupwanya Pedzai of Zanu (PF) is the sole candidate that was duly nominated, hence there will be no by-election in that Constituency on 09 December 2023″, read the statement by the electoral body.

That confusion is now water under the bridge and Sakupwanya will once again represent the constituency thus continuing with his life changing projects.
