The Zimbabwe senior men’s national team has been boosted by the arrival of the foreign-based contingent in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of their crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.
The Warriors set up camp in Casablanca where they are holding their training sessions before travelling to El Jadida for their opening Group E encounter against Sierra Leone on 24 September 2026 at the Stade El Abdi.
According to an update from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), ten players have so far arrived in Casablanca and linked up with the technical team led by head coach Ramon Catala.
The players who have arrived are Marvelous Nakamba, Thando Ngwenya, Tawanda Chirewa, Corbin Mthunzi, Martin Mapisa, Nelson Chadya, Peter Muduhwa, Kevin Moyo, Emmanuel Jalai and Abubakar Moffat.
The arrival of the group brings significant experience and depth to the squad, with the foreign-based players expected to blend with the locally-based contingent as preparations intensify for the Sierra Leone tie.
Meanwhile, the Warriors have been dealt a blow after forwards Tino Kadewere and Prince Dube were ruled out of the two qualifiers through injury. Kadewere, who plies his trade with Aris Salonika, and Dube from Hardrock, were both part of the initial 24-man squad announced by Coach Catala.
To cover for the injured duo, the technical team has called up Washington Navaya and Leeroy Mavunga as replacements. The two forwards are expected to join the camp in Casablanca before the team departs for El Jadida.
ZIFA confirmed that the rest of the foreign-based players are expected to jet in today to complete the squad ahead of the crucial Group E encounter.
After the Sierra Leone match, the Warriors will return to Harare via a chartered flight on Friday for their second qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo at the National Sports Stadium on 28 September 2026.
