Police release names of boat accident victims

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of four victims who died when their dinkey boat capsized in Lake Kariba near Tsetse Island on the 16th of September 2023.

The four were positively identified by their next of kin.

The four are, Sergeant Tatenda Nekati (36) of Zimbabwe National Army, Corporal Nxobile Ncube of Zimbabwe National Army, Trust Phiri (24) of Chilimba village Negande, Kariba and Adson Mupiringano of Batonga, Kariba.

The bodies of the four were retrieved on the 17th and 18th of September 2023.

The police urged members of the public to be safety conscious when using small boats.

In July 2021, five people lost their lives when their boat also capsized on the same lake.
