VP Mohadi Opens 17th Zimbabwe National Youth and Paralympic Games in Marondera

The Vice President, Col. (Rtd) Dr. K.C.D. Mohadi ,officially opened the 17th Edition of the Zimbabwe National Youth and Paralympic Games at Rushwaya Stadium in Marondera on Saturday.

He was represented by the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, Hon. Tino Machakaire.

The games are being held under the patronage of His Excellency President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, reflecting Government’s unwavering commitment to placing youth development and empowerment at the center of the national development agenda.

Addressing athletes, coaches and officials, Hon. Machakaire said sport remains one of the most powerful tools for transforming young lives.

“Through sport the nation is identifying talent, building discipline, promoting unity and creating opportunities for our young people. When we invest in our youth we invest in Zimbabwe’s future,” he said.

The Minister added that the inclusion of Paralympic athletes in the national games demonstrates Government’s commitment to leaving no one behind and ensuring that all youth, regardless of ability, have a platform to showcase their talent.

The 17th edition of the games brings together thousands of young athletes from across the country’s 10 provinces to compete in various sporting disciplines. Beyond competition, the event also provides a space for skills development, talent identification and national integration.

Government, in partnership with sporting bodies, schools and communities, continues to prioritize investment in sports infrastructure and youth programs as part of Vision 2030.
