The Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture and Goromonzi Member of Parliament, Hon. Emily Jesaya, has facilitated the donation of Starlink satellite internet kits to schools across Goromonzi District, extending connectivity to dozens of rural and peri-urban learning institutions.

Book NowThe rollout is aligned to the Second Republic’s Smart Zimbabwe 2030 Masterplan, which prioritises digital access and technology equity as part of the country’s trajectory toward an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
Speaking at the handover, Hon. Jesaya said the initiative reflects the ZANU PF Government’s commitment, under the leadership of His Excellency President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, to service delivery and modernisation.
“The donations fulfil the Second Republic’s drive for digital inclusivity,” Hon. Jesaya said. “They will go a long way in ensuring our rural schools match up in technology with the rest of the country. We remain committed to empowering marginalised communities with resources so that, in the country’s march towards Vision 2030, no one and no place is left behind.”
The Starlink kits are expected to give learners and teachers access to online learning platforms, research tools, e-government services and digital literacy training, areas previously constrained by limited or unreliable internet in remote areas.
A total of 34 primary and secondary schools received kits under this phase of the programme.

The distribution covers a wide stretch of Goromonzi, from Gosha and Juru in the west to Acturus, Chikwaka and Mapfeni in the east, targeting both standalone schools and combined primary-secondary campuses.
Government officials noted that the programme complements wider efforts by dedicated Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Members of Parliament who are focused on grassroots service delivery. By equipping schools with satellite connectivity, the project seeks to level the digital playing field and prepare learners for a technology-driven economy.
With the Starlink rollout now underway in Goromonzi, authorities say monitoring will focus on usage, teacher training and maintenance to ensure the kits deliver sustained educational impact.
The rollout is aligned to both the Smart Zimbabwe 2030 Masterplan and the National Development Strategy 2: NDS2 2026-2030, which prioritises digital transformation, innovation, and inclusive access to technology as key enablers for an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
