HARARE – Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique and Eswatini, Ambassador Victor Matemadanda, has died.
Ambassador Matemadanda, a decorated liberation war veteran, diplomat and former Government official, passed away on Saturday night after a distinguished career dedicated to serving Zimbabwe.
He was serving as Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the Republic of Mozambique with concurrent accreditation to the Kingdom of Eswatini, where he played a key role in advancing bilateral relations and cooperation between Zimbabwe and the two neighbouring countries.
Prior to his diplomatic appointment, Ambassador Matemadanda held several senior positions, including Deputy Minister of Defence, Member of Parliament and a leadership role within the war veterans movement.
In 2021, President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa appointed him Ambassador to Mozambique, entrusting him with the responsibility of strengthening diplomatic, economic and historical ties between the two countries.
Throughout his public service career, Ambassador Matemadanda remained committed to the ideals of the liberation struggle and the development of Zimbabwe. During his tenure in the diplomatic service, he worked to deepen cooperation, promote trade and investment, and strengthen relations between Zimbabwe and its regional partners.
His passing marks the loss of a seasoned diplomat, liberation war veteran and dedicated public servant who devoted much of his life to serving his country.
