The Zimbabwe Football Association has expressed deep concern following the violent incidents and misconduct that resulted in the abandonment of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter between Hardrock FC and Dynamos FC at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday.
In a statement released on 25 May 2026, ZIFA strongly condemned all forms of violence, intimidation and disorder associated with football matches, emphasizing that the sport must remain a safe, family friendly and unifying platform for players, officials, supporters and stakeholders.
The association backed the Premier Soccer League’s decision to await comprehensive reports from match officials and the clubs involved before making a determination in accordance with the governing rules and regulations. ZIFA stressed the importance of following due process and ensuring that individuals found responsible for misconduct face appropriate disciplinary action.
ZIFA further reiterated that violence has no place in Zimbabwean football, particularly at a time when efforts are being made to restore confidence and integrity within the domestic game. The association called on supporters to continue backing their teams with passion, pride and discipline, while urging clubs to play a leading role in promoting order, safety and mutual respect at match venues.
The football governing body also indicated that it will continue collaborating with the Premier Soccer League, clubs, security authorities and other stakeholders to strengthen matchday safety mechanisms and preserve football as a source of national unity, entertainment and pride.
ZIFA appealed for calm among supporters and urged all parties to allow the relevant disciplinary and investigative processes to take their course.
