Book NowHantavirus is a serious and potentially deadly viral disease that spreads to humans mainly through contact with infected rodents, like their urine, droppings, and saliva. It can cause Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS), a severe respiratory illness with a fatality rate of up to 50%.
As a precautionary measure, the individuals will be isolated together in a designated private facility, where infection prevention and control measures will be implemented. The MoHCC is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure the travellers’ safety and prevent any potential spread of the virus.
The public has been assured that there is no cause for alarm, and the situation is being closely monitored. Zimbabwe’s health authorities are committed to protecting the health and well-being of its citizens and taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
