State assisted funerals for Zvoma, Mandishona

Former Clerk of Parliament, Mr Austin Zvoma

Government has granted state assisted funerals for the late former Clerk of Parliament, Mr Austin Zvoma and Professor Gibson Mandishona a multi-talented and leading research scientist, mathematician and statistician, who moved the centre ground of Zimbabwe’s innovation and renewable energy drive.

Mr Austin Zvoma died last Saturday at the Avenues Clinic in Harare after battling cancer. He was 74.

Dr Mandishona died on the same day from a stroke at Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare aged 83.

Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr M J M Sibanda advised the nation in a statement issued today.

“His Excellency President, Dr E D Mnangagwa, has granted State-assisted funerals to the late Professor Gibson Mandishona, and late Cde Austin Zvoma, for a their valuable contributions to nation-building”, read the statement.

The two contributed immensely to the development of the nation.
