President Emmerson Mnangagwa has hailed the strong relationship between Zimbabwe and Botswana, highlighting the significant strides made in bilateral cooperation. Speaking at the 392nd Ordinary Session of the Politburo in Harare, President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of the partnership, citing the successful convening of the 5th Bi-National Commission, which yielded tangible outcomes in trade, infrastructure, agriculture, and industrial cooperation.
“We are steadily taking our seat within the global value chains space, not as a mere supplier of raw materials but as a competitive producer of value-added goods,” President Mnangagwa said, underscoring Zimbabwe’s commitment to value addition and beneficiation. The export of Zimbabwe’s first lithium sulphate consignment is a testament to this effort, marking a historic achievement in the country’s beneficiation agenda.
President Mnangagwa also commended the grassroots membership and citizens for their dedication to the Party’s principles, assuring them that ZANU PF will continue to prioritize their needs and aspirations. “Under the Second Republic, ZANU PF will never divert from the ongoing agenda to unite, develop, and lead the nation towards a better life for all, no matter the challenges,” he emphasized.
The President’s remarks were made against the backdrop of Zimbabwe’s 46th Independence Day celebrations in Maphisa, Matabeleland South Province, which were marked by a strong turnout and sense of purpose. He also highlighted the success of the 66th Edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo, which was officially opened by Botswana’s President, Advocate Boko.
President Mnangagwa called on Politburo Secretaries to craft clear, sector-specific policies that operationalize the Party’s socio-economic policies, identifying priority areas in industry and commerce, and strengthening institutional frameworks to consolidate economic growth.
