The President has appointed Vice Presidents.
Word doing rounds in the streets is about the appointment of ministers who will be responsible for certain portfolios that will drive the country to achieve vision 2030 of attaining an upper middle class economy by the year 2030.
The Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Jongwe Masuka was the best overall performing minister in Zimbabwe and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Frederick Shava came second.
The duo beat a host of other ministers when their performance was evaluated.
According to information from the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, out of 21 Cabinet Ministers were evaluated.
Two ministers excelled beyond expectation while 15 met their targets while two performed below set targets from the previous term which ended last month with the country voting in the 2023 harmonized elections.
Performance records do not lie but from a an analytic perspective, some of the outgoing ministers were not serving their master but were after enriching themselves to the extent of even ignoring their constituencies, promoting their relatives and even engaging in corrupt activities.
To be appointed as a minister is the highest honour from the President which needs to be respected and repaid by working hard towards the development trajectory.
Those who performed well will be seen by being reappointed back to their respective ministries or can be reshuffled.
The general populace has no say in the appointment of the ministers but performances from other previous ministers raised questions as to whether they were not part of detractors of prosperity.
The electorate has learned from the past term that President Mnangagwa is development centric. His vision is to see a developed Zimbabwe competing tie to toe with other nations in all aspects of life.
We expect the development agenda ante to be upped.
A number of projects are already at various stages of execution. Completion of these such as the Harare-Beitbridge road rehabilitation are a priority of the new government.
