10th Parliament members Sworn in

Newly elected members of the 10th parliament have taken oath and were sworn in by the Clerk of Parliament this morning.

The legislators were sworn in at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden, Harare.

All Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) took the oath of office contrary to the statement the party issued last week clamoring for the elections to be rerun.

The MPs are the first to be sworn in at the new Parliament building which signals a new beginning. The nation is urged to be united, peaceful, tolerant and focus on development for the betterment of the country.

279 National Assembly Members including 60 elected through proportional representation and 10 through the youth Quota were sworn in.

Zanu PF won 136 constituencies out of the 210 constituencies and an additional 33 out of 60 seats for women proportional representation and 7 youth Quota seats.

CCC won 73 seats and picked 27 from women’s proportional representation and 3 youth quota seats.

Members of the Senate will be sworn in later in the day.

The swearing in of members of the legislature paves the way for President Mnangagwa to announce his cabinet any time soon.
