Building on the momentum and resolutions emerging from the Mashonaland East Province Field Day, ZANU-PF National Deputy Youth League Political Commissar Taurai Kandishaya has come out strongly in full support of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, describing it as a progressive legislative move that strengthens governance, political stability, and inclusive national development.
Speaking in Goromonzi, Kandishaya said the proposed amendments resonate with the revolutionary values of ZANU-PF and the party’s long-standing commitment to people-centred governance. He stressed that the Bill is not an abstract legal exercise, but a strategic instrument designed to consolidate unity, continuity, and efficiency in the governance architecture of Zimbabwe.
Kandishaya further voiced firm backing for the amendment that allows Village Headmen to participate politically, arguing that traditional leadership structures are an integral part of Zimbabwe’s socio-political fabric and should not be divorced from national decision-making processes. He said village heads are already central to community mobilisation, development coordination, and conflict resolution, and formalising their political participation only strengthens grassroots democracy.
“The empowerment of village headmen is the empowerment of the people themselves,” Kandishaya said. “Development begins at the village level, and those who lead communities daily must have a recognised voice within the political system.”
The National Youth League PC emphasised that both amendments are fully aligned with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which seeks to transform Zimbabwe into an upper middle-income economy through inclusive governance, food security, education, and innovation. He noted that the same developmental philosophy was evident at the Mashonaland East Field Day, where youth, traditional leaders, private companies, and artists converged around agriculture, livestock production, and community empowerment.
Kandishaya reiterated that the Youth League stands solidly behind the President and the party leadership, adding that young people understand the importance of constitutional reforms that safeguard stability and long-term planning. He said Amendment Bill No. 3 provides the certainty required for sustained development, while the inclusion of village headmen strengthens state-community relations.
He concluded by calling on party members, youths, and communities to remain united and vigilant in defending national interests, stating that Zimbabwe’s future can only be secured when leadership, tradition, and the people move forward together under the banner of ZANU-PF and the guiding principle that nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.
