The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) in collaboration with the Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS), recently conducted a comprehensive wellness and health screening exercise. This initiative was designed to promote early detection and preventive healthcare among correctional officers and staff, underscoring the importance of regular health checks in maintaining a productive and healthy workforce.
Commissioner General Dr. Moses Cyril Ngawaite Chihobvu emphasized the significance of prioritizing health, stating, “A healthy workforce is key to productivity and overall well-being. Regular health checks should become a standard practice rather than a once-off initiative.” His message reinforced the organization’s commitment to fostering a culture of health and wellness within the correctional service.
The wellness screening exercise encompassed a range of vital health checks, including cancer screening, blood pressure monitoring, and blood sugar testing. Health Care Coach Elitha Mwanza highlighted the critical importance of early detection, noting, “Many health conditions can be effectively managed or cured when identified at an early stage.” Her statement underscored the value of proactive health management.
