“I am deeply gutted to miss out on a tournament of this magnitude. Representing Zimbabwe at the highest level has always been a source of pride”, he said.

Rinomhota, who plays for Reading FC, had joined the team in Morocco just a few days ago and was expected to play a key role in the tournament. Rinomhota’s departure leaves a gaping hole in the squad, especially with tough matches ahead vs Egypt, Angola, and South Africa.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) granted his request, citing the best interests of all parties. Rinomhota remains part of the national team setup, and ZIFA looks forward to his return once the family matter is resolved.

The Warriors will face Egypt, Angola, and South Africa in Group B, and Rinomhota’s absence will be deeply felt.

ZIFA wished him and his family all the best during this challenging time.
