Murechu, who also serves as the Bulawayo Provincial Youth Chairperson, outlined his priority areas, including economic empowerment, community safety, and long-term solutions to water shortages. He pledged to solarise all boreholes in Nkulumane to ease residents’ access to water.
He told supporters that he plans to establish a Community Development Committee — a non-partisan structure meant to foster cooperation among residents, stakeholders and local groups in driving development initiatives if elected.
The campaign launch attracted a significant crowd, signalling growing interest in the by-election, which features candidates from ZANU PF, CCC, EFF, ZAPU, ZANC and several independents. Analysts note that the fragmented opposition field may influence voter dynamics ahead of the December 20 vote.
ZANU PF officials say the party’s emphasis on urban renewal and tangible development outcomes is resonating with residents who want practical improvements in service delivery.
