Police put stray dog owners on notice

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is set to launch an operation targeting stray dogs and their owners in a bid to ensure the safety of people.

Recently the nation has witnessed vicious dog attacks as stray dogs attack people on the streets.

According to the Harare Dog Licensing and Control By Law of 1993, enacted under Statutory Instrument 19 of 1993, dog owners are obliged to prioritize the safety of others.

Dogs must be kept on leash and not roam on the streets unsupervised.

In order to enforce compliance the force will partner the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and local authorities in implementing the operation.
