ZANU PF Nullifies Manicaland Women’s League Co-option, Calls for Fresh Process

The ZANU PF Department of Commissariat has nullified the outcome of the Manicaland Provincial Women’s League Chairlady co-option that took place on 6 April 2025 in Mutare, citing procedural irregularities. In a formal notice dated 27 June 2025 and addressed to the Provincial Chairperson, Cde T. Mukodza, the party instructed the province to prepare for a fresh co-option process.

According to the communiqué, the repeat co-option is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 29 June 2025, at 10:00 AM at the ZANU PF Manicaland Provincial Offices. The process will be overseen by the party’s National Political Commissar, Cde Munyaradzi Machacha.

The Commissariat directed that all members of the Electoral College, comprising the Provincial Women’s League Executive, must be informed and expected to attend. While specific reasons for the nullification were not disclosed in the letter, the decision appears aimed at reinforcing internal procedural integrity and ensuring a fair leadership selection process within the Women’s League structures.

The co-option comes at a time when ZANU PF is focused on strengthening its grassroots mobilisation and leadership capacity, particularly within the Women’s League, which has been described as a strategic pillar in the party’s mobilisation machinery.

For further guidance or clarification, the Provincial Chairperson has been instructed to consult directly with the office of the National Political Commissar.
