Koala Park Black Market Meat Sales: A Warning to Consumers

If you are planning to buy meat at Koala Park along Seke Road, exercise caution. Steer clear of individuals in overalls stationed at the entrance—they may compromise your purchase. This publication strongly urges the public to buy exclusively from the official Koala butchery.

The individuals positioned at the gate are selling meat that is misleadingly packaged, often with layers carefully arranged to conceal spoilage or poor quality. One of our readers recently fell victim to this deceptive practice. After purchasing meat from a man posing as a Koala employee at the gate, they returned home only to realize they had been tricked and sold meat that was not suitable for consumption.

This blatant fraud continues openly during the day, seemingly without any intervention or concern from the authorities. Koala Park management appears indifferent to this ongoing malpractice, raising serious questions about oversight and accountability. Such a relaxed approach by management may unintentionally encourage further misconduct among staff, including the risk of cattle theft, as employees may feel emboldened by the availability of an outlet for selling unregulated and possibly stolen meat.

The men selling meat at the gate claim that the meat they are offering is part of their salary or compensation from the company. However, this publication was unable to verify the truth of these claims. Efforts to obtain clarification from Koala Park management were unsuccessful, as no officials were available to speak to us during our visit to the premises.

This situation highlights the urgent need for Koala Park management to investigate and take decisive action to restore order and protect consumers from exploitation. Members of the public are therefore advised to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
