CZLWVA Embarks on Nationwide Restructuring Exercise

By Godfrey M. Bonda

Harare – The Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA), a ZANU PF affiliate, has commenced a nationwide restructuring exercise aimed at strengthening its structures across the country.

According to Cde Lenin Samhembere, the organization’s National Secretary for Information and Publicity, the process is primarily a verification exercise to ensure clarity and alignment within CZLWVA.

He explained that CZLWVA is affiliated with the Veterans League, led by Cde Douglas Mahiya, who is also a ZANU PF Politburo member. Additionally, he emphasized that Cde Phineas Makombe serves as the organization’s National Chairman while holding the position of Youth League National Secretary for Legal Affairs.

“Our executive consists of 50 elected members, with 10 additional provincial members, bringing the total to 60,” said Cde Samhembere.

He also alleged that COZWVA, a separate group led by Munyaradzi Shoko, is a bogus entity, highlighting the need for CZLWVA to reinforce its structures through this national restructuring exercise.

“Provinces such as Manicaland and Matabeleland North have completed the process, while Bulawayo Province is already halfway through,” he noted. He further stated that the verification exercise is aligned with ZANU PF’s ongoing party cell verification exercise, reinforcing the party’s grassroots structures.

“As we carry out this exercise, we are also strengthening our relationship with ZANU PF, the party to which we are affiliated,” he added.

Cde Samhembere also revealed that CZLWVA was included in the Munhumutapa Housing Scheme, launched by President Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. As part of this initiative, 150 hectares of land were allocated to CZLWVA in Mashonaland West.

The organization is also advocating for the early payment of school fees for its members in tertiary education, working through its National Secretary for Education. Additionally, it has submitted names of members interested in joining the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).

Meanwhile, CZLWVA’s National Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Clinton Tendai Chikaura, announced that Mashonaland East’s restructuring process will begin in Goromonzi on 27 March. He emphasized that the initiative is strategically focused on empowerment, economic inclusion, political mobilization, and access to resources.

“The sleeping giant is awakening through leadership renewal, leveraging mineral wealth, and aligning with national development goals,” added Cde Chikaura.
