Construction at Nembudziya Open Grounds in Gokwe is progressing rapidly as preparations for Zimbabwe’s 45th Independence Anniversary Celebrations and the Uhuru Cup gather momentum.
The event, set for April 18, aligns with the government’s decentralization drive under the theme “Zim@45: Devolve and Develop Together Towards Vision 2030.”
With just weeks remaining, infrastructure developments are now 75% complete, with final touches expected by April 10.
“Work is in full swing here in Gokwe Nembudziya. We are working around the clock to ensure everything is ready on time,” said Engineer Akim Maravira from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.
The rehabilitation of the Kadoma-Sanyati-Nembudziya road is also advancing to ensure smooth access to the venue.
“Our team is making great progress, and we are confident that the road will be ready. It is a privilege to host this year’s celebrations,” said contractor Benny Majoni.
Residents and local youths have embraced the ongoing developments, viewing them as a sign of the Second Republic’s commitment to inclusive development.
“These improvements are bringing jobs to our people, and the infrastructure upgrades will benefit us beyond the celebrations,” said a local community member.
As the deadline approaches, the final phase of preparations is expected to cement Nembudziya’s place in history as the host of this year’s national event.
