Government Expands Deputy Ministerial Roles for Enhanced Policy Implementation

The government has introduced additional Deputy Ministerial positions to enhance policy implementation and drive inclusive growth as Zimbabwe transitions from the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) to its successor, NDS2.

Honourable Albert Tawanda Mavunga, Member of Parliament for Nketa Constituency, has been appointed Deputy Minister responsible for Local Authorities and Traditional Leadership within the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works. This complements the existing Deputy Minister responsible for Public Works and Maintenance of Government Buildings.

In the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development, Honourable Caleb Makwiranzou, MP for Mutoko North Constituency, has been named Deputy Minister responsible for Oil and Gas Research as well as other Strategic Minerals Exploration. His role complements the existing Deputy Minister overseeing Mineral Resources Extraction and Marketing.

This restructuring, announced by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr. Martin Rushwaya, aligns with the government’s commitment to improving efficiency in policy execution as Zimbabwe advances its economic transformation agenda.
