A train hit a police vehicle at a rail level crossing in Marondera on Saturday evening resulting in the injury of the Police officer who was driving the vehicle.
The Police officer failed to stop at the level crossing in defiance of road rules. Drivers are directed to stop at level crossings and proceed only if there is no train approaching.
Initial reports allege the officer was chasing a fleeing kombi resulting in the crash.
Drivers, law enforcement agencies included are urged to observe road rules.
On many occasions in Harare and other towns we witness police vehicles and City Council vehicles breaking road rules going against traffic in the name of “traffic enforcement ” endangering the lives of other road users.
No one is above the law.
The accidents at level crossings continue unabated. Motorists are advised to observe road rules all the time to avoid unnecessary loss of lives and injuries.
