Breaking News: President Mnangagwa appoint Stephen Mutamba as CG of Police

His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa has appointed Deputy Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba as the Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) following the retirement of Commissioner General Tandabantu Godwin Matanga.

The appointment is in terms of section 221 (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

Commissioner General Matanga retires from his position on 31 December 2024 in terms of section 340 (1) (f) as read with section 221 (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

The appointment of Commissioner Mutamba is with effect from the 1st of January 2025.

The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya made the announcement in a statement this Friday.

With a wealth of experience in policing, Commissioner General Mutamba is expected to take the force to the next level.as it carries out it’s constitutional mandate.
