In his opening remarks at the 44th SADC Summit held at the Mt Hampden New Parliament Building in Harare, SADC Executive Secretary Elias Magosi commended Zimbabwe’s industrial park and innovation hub initiative, describing it as a commendable and replicable model for regional development. Magosi expressed admiration for the Second Republic’s commitment to allocating an annual budget to finance this initiative, highlighting Zimbabwe’s dedication to fostering economic growth and innovation, particularly among the youth.
Magosi praised the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa’s administration, emphasizing its focus on youth empowerment and industrial development. He noted that this approach is poised to have a lasting positive impact on Zimbabwe’s economic future.
Addressing the issue of youth unemployment, which remains a significant challenge in the SADC region, Magosi lauded the initiative’s potential to foster innovation, create job opportunities, and empower young people. He stressed that the industrial park and innovation hub could serve as a catalyst for entrepreneurial growth and economic development.
Magosi encouraged other SADC member states to emulate Zimbabwe’s model, citing it as a best practice for driving regional economic growth. He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and knowledge sharing to replicate successful initiatives like Zimbabwe’s, which he believes could accelerate economic transformation across the SADC region.
