In a heartfelt address at the Presidential National Day of Prayer, President Emmerson Mnangagwa called on Zimbabweans to seek divine guidance and unity as the nation faces significant challenges. The theme of this year’s prayer gathering, “A Quest for God’s Help in Nation Building,” resonated deeply with the President’s message. Mnangagwa underscored that the nation’s progress and prosperity hinge on seeking God’s wisdom and blessings. “Our national development philosophy—Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo—remains our guiding principle,” he said, highlighting the belief that the nation’s fortunes are intrinsically linked to divine favor.

President Mnangagwa expressed gratitude for the peace, unity, and love that Zimbabwe continues to enjoy despite the enduring challenges of sanctions and climate change. He attributed the country’s resilience to divine intervention, citing significant achievements in infrastructure development and economic initiatives, including the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold Currency (ZiG).

“Our beloved nation is thankful to Almighty God for the peace, unity, love, harmony, and tranquil environment we continue to enjoy,” Mnangagwa noted. He praised the ongoing efforts in building the nation “brick upon brick and stone upon stone,” pointing to the construction of roads, dams, schools, and clinics as evidence of God’s blessings.

The President also highlighted the government’s proactive measures in addressing the El-Nino-induced drought, assuring that no one in Zimbabwe would die of hunger. He called on the church and other stakeholders to complement government efforts by contributing resources to support affected communities.

Looking ahead, Mnangagwa urged the nation to pray for the successful hosting of the 44th Ordinary Session of the SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, where Zimbabwe will assume the Chairmanship. He stressed the importance of unity and patriotism, emphasizing that this event is a moment of honor for Zimbabwe on the regional stPresident Mnangagwa’s address reflected a deep intertwining of faith and governance, using spiritual guidance as a foundation for national policy.
