Scottland FC Avoid Sanction Over Ineligible Player Allegation in Chibuku Super Cup

Scottland FC have avoided sanction after being charged with fielding an ineligible player in the Chibuku Super Cup.

The Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) had instituted disciplinary proceedings against Scottland FC for allegedly fielding Namibian winger Witbeen Stoffel in their Chibuku Super Cup Round of 16 fixture against FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium on 14 August 2026. Scottland won the match 3-1, with Stoffel coming on as an 88th-minute substitute. The club was subsequently charged with contravening Article 8.4 and Article 4.1 of the Chibuku Super Cup Rules and Regulations.

In a press statement released on 31 October 2026, the PSL confirmed that the Disciplinary Committee upheld Scottland FC’s preliminary objection that the complaint regarding the player’s eligibility was not lodged within the timeframe prescribed under Article 6.3 of the 2026 Rules and Regulations.

Consequently, the Committee ruled that the result of the 14 August 2026 match stands. It made no determination on whether Stoffel was duly registered with the League for the 2026 season, owing to the procedural defect in the timing of the complaint.

The PSL said a full detailed judgement has been furnished to the concerned parties.
