Invictus Energy Advances Musuma-1 Drilling Campaign

Invictus Energy Ltd, an independent oil and gas exploration company, has announced the successful completion of the rig move to the Musuma-1 exploration wellsite within its Cabora Bassa Project in Zimbabwe. Exalo relocated Rig 202 from the Mukuyu-2 wellsite and completed all wellpad construction, civil works, and access road upgrades.

With the rig now on location, preparations are underway for drilling operations, including rig-up activities, maintenance, and mobilisation of well services equipment. Musuma-1 is on track to spud in November 2026, targeting a significant gas-condensate prospect with estimated gross unrisked prospective resources of approximately 1.2 Tcf of gas and 73 million barrels of condensate.

The Musuma-1 well will test a material prospect identified through seismic data, offering potential for additional gas and condensate resources following the Mukuyu discovery. The well is designed as a relatively shallow vertical exploration well with a planned total depth of approximately 1,500 metres.

Invictus Managing Director Scott Macmillan commented on the milestone, highlighting the company’s progress and focus on completing preparations for the drilling campaign. The Musuma-1 well is part of Invictus’ strategy to unlock the hydrocarbon potential of the Cabora Bassa Basin.
