HARARE — ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa, has commended President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s leadership following the reported decline in annual inflation to 2.9 percent, describing the development as a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s pursuit of sustained economic stability.
Speaking at a press conference at the ZANU PF Headquarters in Harare, Ambassador Mutsvangwa attributed the decline to the Second Republic’s emphasis on sound economic management, fiscal discipline and measures aimed at strengthening macroeconomic stability.
He said the latest inflation figures point to an increasingly stable economic environment, which is important for restoring confidence among businesses, investors and consumers while creating conditions for increased production and long-term economic planning.
The ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity said prudent fiscal and monetary measures were beginning to produce tangible results, adding that maintaining policy consistency would remain critical as Zimbabwe seeks to consolidate the gains recorded under the Second Republic.
He further linked the developments to the country’s broader economic transformation agenda under Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), which prioritise macroeconomic stability, productive capacity, investment and sustainable economic growth.
According to Ambassador Mutsvangwa, continued stability should create greater opportunities for investment and production, while providing a stronger foundation for improving livelihoods.
He said the Government’s economic programme was ultimately focused on building a resilient and productive economy capable of delivering tangible benefits to Zimbabweans.
The ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity stressed that the decline in inflation should be viewed as part of a broader economic transformation process, with the next challenge being to sustain stability while translating it into increased production, investment, employment and improved living standards.
He said continued implementation of economic reforms would be essential as Zimbabwe advances towards its Vision 2030 objective of achieving an upper-middle-income economy.
